The Work Permit Issue
Malta’s employment policy gives preference to local staff over foreigners, however, if subsequently, the search for local staff proves negative the authorities will consider a request for the employment of non-Maltese nationals.

  1. Applying for the work permit.

An application form for the issuing of an employment license for a third country national will be supplied for the employer to complete. In addition CMIS will assist in the preparation of a letter to the ETC giving reasons for the application, and to which will be attached doctors certificates and / or references supporting the reason for the request.
We will assist in its completion and from the date of submitting the application, we can expect a period of 3 months to process the request.

  1. As a guideline, we list the main factors which ETC take into consideration when granting a work permit :-
